Bowling Green Barbell Club is BG's first official weightlifting club, with the most skilled coaches you will find in town. Here we teach people how to move the barbell safely and efficiently, regardless of age, gender, or athletic background. We periodically offer Beginner cycles for people with little to no weightlifting experience, but beginners can always inquire for coaching availability. Intermediate and Advanced lifters are welcome to join the club at anytime. You will have a complementary meeting with our coaches to go over your training. 

Join our USAW-certified Advanced Sports Performance Coaches to learn or perfect your Snatch, Clean, and Jerk. Membership also provides unlimited access during regularly scheduled gym hours. Key fobs available for 24-hour access.


The Movements

Snatch

In the snatch, the lifter takes a wide grip and, in one continuous motion, lifts the bar from the floor to overhead. The Snatch is one of the most explosive and athletic movements in all of sports. 

Clean and Jerk

In the clean, the lifter takes a medium grip and, in one continuous motion, lifts the bar from the floor to the shoulders. In the Jerk the lifter drives the bar from the shoulders to overhead in one quick, explosive motion.


Equipment

Bowling Green Powerhouse has everything you need to compete in weightlifting. Our gym is the only gym in the area with kilo bumper plates and bearing olympic training bars. Bowling Green Powerhouse proudly carries equipment from Uesaka, Werksan, Eleiko, and Rogue.
